Accessibility

Accessibility statement.

We want this site to work for everyone who needs to read it, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard, or a browser zoomed well past 100 per cent.

What we aim for

We build to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. We should be straight with you: that is the standard we design and test against, not a certification. This site has not been through a formal third-party audit.

What we have done

  • Semantic HTML throughout, so headings, lists and landmarks make sense to a screen reader.
  • Every page reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline.
  • FAQ answers use native disclosure elements, so the text is present whether or not scripting runs.
  • Descriptive alternative text on photographs that carry meaning.
  • Text and background colours checked for contrast, and layouts that reflow on a phone and under zoom.
  • Form fields with real labels, and errors reported in text rather than by colour alone.

Known limitations

The before-and-after comparison sliders are a visual device. Both photographs carry their own alternative text, but the dragging interaction itself is of limited use without sight. If that gets in your way, tell us and we will describe any project to you directly.

Tell us when it fails

If something on this site is hard or impossible to use, we want to know, and we will fix it. Email jake@jakeshor.com with the page and what went wrong. We aim to respond within five working days.
